On 6 February, Business Environment Council Limited hosted the Hong Kong Sustainable Aviation Fuel Coalition (HKSAFC) Annual Symposium 2026.
As a member of HKSAFC, Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) took part in a panel discussion titled “Demand Mechanisms: What Works for Hong Kong?”. During the session, AAHK Chief Sustainability Officer Peter Lee highlighted the importance of implementing a demand mechanism for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) suited to the situation of Hong Kong, given the city’s role as a transfer and cargo hub, aiming to strike a balance between market competitiveness and climate action.
Ir Dr Stephen Lam, AAHK Airport Operations Facilitation General Manager also delivered a presentation titled “SAF blending for Hong Kong”. He shared insights on Hong Kong International Airport’s (HKIA) fuelling system, which allows airlines to receive, store, and uptake pre-blended SAF at HKIA, and discussed important factors to consider when blending SAF.
