Carbon Emission Reduction Measures and Strategies

  • Implemented solar panels situated on its roofs which generated over 75,000 kWh of clean energy annually.
  • 100% lighting within the terminal was replaced with LED-based lightning systems.
  • Electrified 100% of its private cars operating in airport-restricted areas.
  • Transitioning to alternative fuels for heavy-duty ground support equipment (GSE) to decarbonise its fleet.
  • Ensuring optimal performance of thermal insulation to maximise energy efficiency.
  • Utilisation of non-ozone depleting HFC refrigerants in its cooling systems and storage facilities.

At Cathay Cargo Terminal, we are committed to a comprehensive decarbonisation strategy. We are actively working towards our net zero carbon emissions target, focusing on enhancing energy efficiency in our terminal, modernising our vehicle fleets and building resilience to the potential impacts of climate change. We have made leadership in sustainable development one of our core focus areas to help us meet our vision of becoming the World's Best Air Cargo Terminal and Hong Kong International Airport's goal of becoming the World's Greenest Airport.
