Air Hong Kong (AHK) was founded as a cargo airline and commenced flying operations in 1988. AHK has operated a range of aircraft, including Airbus A300 and A330 cargo aircraft, on routes to ports in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Australia.

In 2002 Cathay Pacific Airways (CPA) entered into a partnership with DHL Express, establishing an Asian regional route network centred on the DHL Hong Kong hub.
AAHK is now a wholly owned subsidiary of CPA, and is focused on providing air cargo services to DHL Express, with remaining capacity supporting extra charter operations for both DHL Express and Cathay Cargo. AHK operates a regular DHL Express schedule between Hong Kong and Shanghai, Chengdu, Singapore, Beijing, Bangkok, Seoul, Taipei, Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Manila, Cebu, Penang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
